Zappware Entertainment Group International (ZEGi) has provided the customised Android TV launcher and television applications for Orange Belgium’s new TV Box, which was commercially launched at the end of June.
As previously reported in Broadband TV News, the eco-friendly device is being installed for new customers and combines traditional linear television with access to major streaming services including Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, RTBF Auvio, VRT Max, VTM Go, Streamz, Play and RTL Play.
ZEGi developed the operator-branded launcher, designed to provide fast navigation, rapid app switching and integrated content discovery while maintaining a consistent Orange user experience on top of the Android TV platform.
The TV Box is connected to ZEGi’s SDS Cloud Backoffice, allowing Orange Belgium to manage the device alongside its wider TV estate through a single platform.
Philippe Toussaint, Chief Technology Officer at Orange Belgium, said: “Our new TV Box marks an important milestone in modernising our TV experience, with a strong focus on performance, ease of use and sustainability. ZEGi has proven to be a trusted technology provider for our TV ecosystem.”
Patrick Vos, Executive Board Member at Zappware Entertainment Group International, added: “Our highly performant custom launcher for Android TV takes full advantage of the new hardware, delivering a smooth, intuitive and fast user experience that unlocks an exciting blend of linear TV services with global and local OTT streaming providers.”
